BATHROOM CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Ceramic Tile Walls, Corian, Fiberglass, Acrylic, Cast Iron & Americast Tubs
The best thing that you can do to keep your new tub or shower wall system and bathtub looking new is to wipe them down after the last shower is taken using either a towel, chamois or squeegee.

Clean the shower walls and the bathtub weekly with a product such as Comet Gel, Clorox Green Works, Comet Liquid Cleaner or other non-abrasive type cleaner.

A White Nylon Pad may be used along with your regular cleaners. Use products such as Tilex only if a mildew or soap scum problem develops, however, be sure to follow the directions.

Warning - Be careful using the new spray-on daily cleaners. Some of these products may react unfavorably with certain surfaces in the shower. If in doubt about a product call the 800 number that the manufacturer provides on the label.

Natural Stone Shower Walls and Floors
Use only cleaners that are safe for natural stone surfaces. Using cleaners such as Scrubbing Bubbles and Tilex will remove any protective coatings that we have applied to the tiles leaving a surface that will be susceptible to moisture penetration and staining.

Cultured Marble Walls and Vanity Tops, Corian Vanity Tops, Fiberglass Units
Gel Gloss Cleaner & Polish can be applied to the above surfaces every 4-6 weeks. Gel Gloss is a non-abrasive cleaner and polish that is applied like automotive wax. Apply directly to the surface or on a cloth, rub in a circular motion, allow to dry to a haze and buff off. This product will provide a protective coating and make cleaning easier. You may also use this product on your faucets and shower enclosure frame.

Ceramic Floor & Wall Grout Sealer
If your upgraded to Laticrete SpectraLock Epoxy Grout, Lucky you! Your grout NEVER needs sealed! It is already stain proof. If you have standard grout then we recommend that you seal it 72 hours after the initial installation is complete and every 1-3 years thereafter. Follow the manufactures instruction on the bottle of sealer and make sure you get all the excess sealer off the tile surface or it will dry and leave a filmy residue.

Ceramic Floor Tile Cleaner
The Concentrated Neutral Cleaner is for cleaning the ceramic floor tile and grout. This is a concentrated product that you dilute with water according to the instructions. I recommend 1oz to a gallon of water.

Whirlpool Care
To thoroughly clean a whirlpools plumbing system, we recommend using a general cleaning solution of warm water and a mild liquid detergent such as Tide laundry detergent. Every three months thoroughly clean the circulatory system by first filling the whirlpool with hot water. Once the basin is full, drop in two teaspoons of Tide detergent and one-half cup of household bleach. Run the whirlpool system for two minutes, drain and refill with cold water. Circulate the cold water for five minutes and drain completely. Now it’s time to shine your whirlpool using a manufacturer-recommended wax. First, however, restore dull areas by rubbing them with white automotive polishing compound. Do not use wire brushes, knifes or sharp objects to remove stains or surface blemishes. They can damage the acrylic surface. Apply a good quality automotive paste wax (on side walls only not on the surface you stand on) which will produce a wonderful shine and protective coating.

Air Massage Bathtubs
Air massage bathtubs need no special cleaning. There are no tubes that the water circulates through as there are on a whirlpool tub. The blower on a air massage tub turns itself on about 20 minutes after the tub has drained and clears the air lines and dries them.

Toilets
Never put any cleaners in the tank of a toilet. Tablets and other cleaning agents put into the tank of a toilet will void the manufactures warranty. The toilet bowl, however, can be cleaned with any type of toilet bowl cleaner you can buy at the grocery store.

Vinyl Floors
For regular cleaning a rinse free cleaner available in the cleaning isle at the grocery store or clear, non-sudsy ammonia mixed with warm water. No wax vinyl floors never need waxed or repolished.

One final tip, use extreme caution with drain cleaners which can damage a cultured marble sink bowl or a whirlpool’s acrylic surface and circulatory system.

Please be advised that Colvin Kitchen & Bath will not be liable for damage to bathroom surfaces caused by the use of any cleaning product. Always read and follow manufactures directions.
